Security
Security is so overrated. Ok, maybe not. Ransomware is running rampant all over the planet and no one is safe. Cybersecurity is tough, and it is even tougher in churches - where we use volunteers and trust everyone. Have you ever tried to volunteer to clean the vault at your local bank? Go ahead, try. We'll wait. No go volunteer to clean at the church and they will probably give you a master key and the admin login to the network.

Ministry requires leadership to balance security and convenience. We can be so secure that no ministry actually gets done, which would be rather inconvenient for many souls in eternity.  Or we can be so convenient that we have no security.
What do ministries need to know to protect themselves? How can IT lead up? Why should ministries care about people like me coming after their data?
All this and more in a session you will leave from feeling encouraged and refreshed, not at all depressed and scared.

Uberization of Ministry
The church has been the last main dominate player in the social “economy” to not break itself from traditional pipeline thinking (Yellow Cabs) to Platform Thinking (Uber).  This shift in opportunities available to pastors and leaders today to think more like Uber and less like a Yellow Cab has enabled new approaches within ministry and impacting ministry at a faster rate than ever before in some churches! Now that ministry tools can be curated, and trust is now distributed to individuals there has never been a more opportune time to equip and release the saints for the work of service and unlocking of their passion.  This is what has always wanted to happen!

With the Armor of God, we have a God-given technology designed for our protection and flourishing.  But the predominant view of this passage has kept most of us from knowing how to actually use it!  Learn how to avoid this #techfail

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of themfalls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.”

1.Authenticity is a key to spiritual health. What are you hiding that is hindering your relationship with God?

2.How are you doing at leading yourself spiritually? How does the overflow of that affect your ability to lead others?

3.What is one way you have found helpful for you to grow spiritually in the past year? How have you found this important to allow you to serve well in your role?

4.What spiritual disciplines do you practice? Which are the most life-giving to you? Why do you think that is?

5.When have you felt comfortable sharing a real struggle with someone? What was itabout them that made them feel safe?

6.Has someone in your past broken trust with you after you shared something personal? How did you respond to that broken trust?7.Who’s an encourager in your life? How do you find encouragement in your role?

8.Talk about thel ast time someone “sharpened” you through a loving, hard conversation? How did that go and how did you respond?

9.How have you handled conflict/miscommunications in the past? How is conflict handled in your organization? What’s your typical response now when trouble stirs?

10.Do you see your role in technology as ministry? Why or why not?11.How are you doing at putting people over tasks? Why is that difficult in your organization?

12.What is one thing that is holding you back from being everything God wants you to be?What steps can you take today to fix that?

Facility Management vs. Event Management
There is confusion in the church world and particularly in the ChMS market on the difference between Event Management and Facility Management.  Both are important...but they are not synonymous.

Event Management is only a subset of Facility Management and if you are only addressing event management, then you are actually not managing the facility...just the use OF the facility.

In this workshop, we will explore the differences, the importance of each and provide suggestions on how to use software to be an intentional facility steward.

IT Roundtable - bring your questions to discuss
Clearly this will be the best IT roundtable session of them all. Maybe Captain Kirk will have launched to space and back by the time this epic roundtable occurs.

The real-time wall: how to engage your community from anywhere - Easylive.io
easylive.io solves the cloud mixing in a collaborative environment. It offers a fully cloud based visual mixer for switching multiple live inputs, VODs, graphics and overlays. Everything is mixed in real-time in the cloud to deliver broadcast-grade live feeds.

Thanks to this real time technology, easylive.io helps the sports industry, live entertainment events and trade shows/conferences with the real-time wall technology.

- Remote guests are watching the live action in real-time on a computer or smartphone and they are being filmed through their webcam, from wherever they are.
- The production team chooses who gets displayed on the wall.
- The wall(s) can be displayed at the venue (where the action is happening) and/or on the broadcast (Streaming/TV), in real time.

So everyone sees real-time emotions and reactions of the remote live audience. This interactivity brings a unique engagement to the community!

A short video made by Disney for their Indian Premier League demonstrates how this real-time wall is applied in sport events as the "Fan wall": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOYDd6xAVWs

How Not to Hate Your ChMS
Let's face it, ChMS is a sore subject for many church staff. Instead of being seen as a tool to help do effective ministry, it is often seen as a hindrance, requiring more administrative effort than benefit.

Ask any ten ChMS users if they hate their ChMS and chances are, you'll get several "yes's." No matter which ChMS product your church uses, a good percentage of your users is likely to be unsatisfied.

In this session we'll dialog about the root causes of ChMS (or any applications) dissatisfaction - and how to address the root causes:
  • Wrong fit of software
  • Implementation and Configuration
  • Training
When is it time to look to new software vs revisiting implementation, configuration, and training? What's are the best practices for GAP analysis and preparing for ChMS search, configuration, and training?

This will be an interactive session and address the needs of those who attend - not a lecture.
